After leaving university to pursue a career in golf, I wanted to fully dedicate myself to the sport and the training it demanded. Lifestyle and lack of exercise at University had made me become self-conscious and unhappy about my body. I was determined and excited at the prospect of radically changing my physique as fitness and body condition was an imperative aspect of golf.
Firstly I joined a local gym and saw a personal trainer who came recommended. Seeing a PT gave me a routine specific to my goals (sports specific, fat loss, toning), I was confident that if I put the work in, I would get the results...this gave me great enthusiasm. Once I started seeing great improvements in both my appearance and my golf swing my enthusiasm grew and grew.
Right from the beginning I was very serious about my training and was determined to get the best out of every session. As I was in the gym and on the golf course everyday, I knew I needed something to aid my performance, muscle recovery, and to maximise results. I researched all the different supplements on the internet and Maxitone always came out on top. It was important to me to use a trusted and reputable brand, that was fully drug-tested as I would be competing in future golf events. Seeing that so many top athletes use Maxitone, it made my decision easy.
I have a few favourite Maxitone products. Sculptress shakes are a must for me as they're a great quality, lean protein shake, it helps repair my muscles and doesn't leave me feeling bloated. I also always incorporate Sculptress capsules and Definity CLA within my diet, they really work in helping define and shape my physique. I find using Maxitone products makes me want to train harder as I have all the components to get to where I want to be, the products add to my enthusiasm and provide extra support and belief.
The best tip I can give is to stick at it, don't give up!! Get yourself a good routine and a good nutritional plan, if you trust in these, it will give you the drive to keep going. The first few weeks are the hardest but as soon as you start seeing results it makes you want to strive for more and you'll never look back. It's the most satisfying feeling, transforming and sculpting your body, being dedicated and proud of what you've achieved but always remember to enjoy yourself!
My training has created a more solid and stable golf swing which has in turn greatly improved my game. It has also improved my self confidence and self-belief, it has also helped open new doors in my career: Co-presenting on a golf TV show, working with a popular golf magazine, teaching and being a brand ambassador - opportunities I'd never thought possible.
I've never been a huge fan of cardio, my favourite way to exercise is by doing a weights session, circuits are always a winner. I like to feel well and truly worn out, like I've worked as hard as I can. After weights, I usually finish with 40 laps in the pool to help relax and improve muscle definition.
I have a really sweet tooth! I am very disciplined and train hard during the week, if I go out for a meal at the weekend, I treat myself to a big dessert - banoffee pie and chocolate fondant are my favourites, you have to reward yourself sometimes.
I've worked really hard to get where I am. It's not been easy and has required both dedication and determination. There have been times where the last place I have wanted to be is in the gym but I've stuck at it and battled on. I'm proud of my achievements and it's fantastic to be recognised by Maxitone - the best in the business. I have definitely reached and surpassed my training goals although there is always room for improvement and I'm still training hard with the help of Maxitone. I hope my story of perseverance and sport-specific training can encourage others to adopt the same routine and get inspired by the results that you can achieve.
